Events Around Philadelphia for the Weekend of May 16th – May 18th
Summer is around the corner which means that city dwellers get their fair share of events, fairs, festivals & generally fun things to do…outside! Now here’s hoping for good weather.
Thursday May 16th
A Philly foodie favorite hits Fairmount this evening. Stop by the Night Market on Fairmount Ave. between 19th & 22nd Streets for this street festival showcasing delicious food by local restaurants & food trucks.
Friday May 17th
Go see the Phillies play the Cincinatti Reds at my favorite Philly stadium, Citizens Bank Park, at 7:05. It’s supposed to be really nice out! Bonus: crab fries.
Saturday May 18th
Visit Rittenhouse Square for the Rittenhouse Row Festival taking place on Walnut Street between Broad & 19th from 12-5. This is always a fabulous event with food from local restaurants, fashion booths, a Stephen Starr culinary demonstration along with music, stuff for the kids & a wine tasting.
If rescuing dogs or philanthropic endeavors are more your thing stop by the Operation Ava Super Adoption Day at Penn’s Landing from 11-4. There are so many dogs that need a home & Operation Ava always needs volunteers. This is a no kill shelter with an amazing reputation. This is where I adopted my furry friend, Major.
Saturday & Sunday

In Honor of Earth Day: Recycling & Composting Services in Philadelphia Keeping our urban areas clean, green & healthy should be of the utmost importance as people continue to move back to the city. "I'm a city boy. In the big cities they've set it up so you can go to a park and be in a miniature countryside, but in the countryside they don't have any patches of big city, so I get very homesick." -Andy Warhol Lucky for us in Philadelphia we...Continue Reading!

Finally: Good News in the Real Estate Section For the past few years, at social events, the inevitable is asked. What do you do? When my answer is Real Estate people look at me with a mixture of curiosity & pity. How is the market? Are you doing okay? It must be really hard for you these days. Our team has weathered the storm very well & so, I might add, has Philadelphia. If anything we suffered from a lack of...Continue Reading!
Check Out This Gem in Point Breeze Listed for $240,000! I hate when I see a corner property that doesn't take advantage of the fact that it is a CORNER PROPERTY. This property has so many windows it just makes me smile. We love the tall windows, the old school shutters, the planter baskets & the TREES. Oh we just love trees. The curb appeal on this home is phenomenal. **Sidenote: you have, like, 3 days to get your free tree application...Continue Reading!
The Cheesecake Factory Has Outdone Itself; Fortunately Not in Caloric Intake But In It's Fab New Philadelphia Home I'll admit I had mixed feeling about a Cheesecake Factory coming to 15th & Walnut. I finally thought to myself, you know, tourism is good for the city & tourists don't want to hunt down the latest/greatest mini B.Y.O. on a tiny side street. They want familiar & flashy right in the middle of everything. Just like that I was okay with it. NOW,...Continue Reading!
Mark Bittman Calls The Reading Terminal New York's Best Public Market....SWhttp://phillyshomes.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1144&action=editOON But, wait, you say. Isn't the Terminal in Philly? Yes. Yes it is. I love the Terminal. I go there weekly. I feel like I save money, help local vendors stay in business & I feel that the offerings are top quality. Sidenote: I love to cook almost as much as I love to eat AND I can be frugal. So I think I kind of know what I am talking...Continue Reading!
