Is This Philadelphia’s Most Underrated Park?
Franklin Square Has A Little Something for Everyone
Nestled in between Old City & Chinatown is Franklin Square Park, one of William Penn’s original squares, which underwent an extensive renovation under the Center City District just over 7 years ago. At one time barely used; the space now offers a place for adults & children to relax & play.
Beautiful landscaping & a cohesive plan create a beautiful & tranquil retreat right in the city.
Walkways are brick & shaded by mature trees. I can’t wait to watch the leaves turn this fall.
A fountain in the center has plenty of seating around it for relaxing. A water feature is always welcome in my eyes.
Grab a snack at Square Burger (run by Stephen Starr) & sit at the Parisian style bistro seating. They have root beer floats. A delicious throwback & a very kid friendly menu.
For the kids & the kid in all of us a Philadelphia attraction themed mini golf is at the northern edge of the square.
Also for the kids is a carousel & a huge playground.
Such a great park! With the gorgeous weather Philadelphia has been enjoying this is a great place to spend an afternoon.
