10 Things to Do in Philly Before Summer is Over
the symbolic end of summer is, like, 10 days away
Where did summer go?!? Can you just feel it slipping through your fingers? I can & I don’t like it one bit. So I did what I do whenever I feel overwhelmed by something. I put pen to paper & I started a list. I made a list of all the things I feel like I need to do at least once before summer is over.
1. eat a lobster roll
2. drink rosé
Seafood & rosé go together like whoa. Also, rosé may be the only pink drink that doesn’t belong exclusively to bachelorette parties.
3. dine al fresco
At your home, at a restaurant or on a picnic. See #4 for some of the best al fresco options this summer.
4. hit a beer garden or a pop up park
There are so many to choose from & it might be one of the best ways to spend a beautiful summer evening.
5. play mini golf at franklin square
Play a round of mini golf at Franklin Square Park all while getting a “crash course” in historical Philly architecture. Before or after grab a cheeseburger at Square Burger & take a ride on the carousel.
6. enjoy nature
Go outside & take a hike or a run or go on a bike ride. Philly, especially Fairmount Park, is full of treasures waiting for you to explore.
7. go on a jaunt to the countryside
8. gorge yourself on stone fruits
Peaches, plums, nectarines & apricots are at their peak. They will not taste this good for another 11 months. Eat them, grill them, can them, jam them & even make cocktails with them. Like this Plum Basil Gin Fizz or this Sparkling Rosemary Peach Spritzer.
