Digging in: Exploring the Roots of Philly Developer Casey Lafferty
Casey Lafferty, developer of Strawbridge Courts, has had a long history in the Philadelphia market. As a Philadelphia native, Lafferty has a unique tie to this city. It isn’t just a money making business but a profession that aims to revitalize our city’s neighborhoods and give back to its residents.
Lafferty began working in construction at very young age as a helper and laborer for his father and uncles. He eventually went on to serve as an electrician and generator mechanic in a motor transport unit for the US Marine Corps. Soon after, he was approached by a local real estate education company to teach several classes. Lafferty taught at the company until its closing in 2009, but has continued to teach a land development course for the Suburban West Realtors Association.
Lafferty, who has 10 years developing experience, is responsible for both building and rehabbing hundreds of properties across the city including Delaware County. At the moment, he is building 60 townhomes and condos in Philadelphia. Lafferty has raised over $60 Million in the last 8 years for his projects, $20 Million dollars for a green building company in 2008, and $8 Million just this last year for two townhome developments. From single rehab units to 21 unit development projects, Lafferty oversees the construction and management of every project he is involved in.
Our new construction listing at Strawbridge Court features 9 spacious units nestled in the heart of Manayunk complete with your must-haves. When it came to Strawbridge Court, Lafferty knew it was the perfect location for prospective buyers in search of a neighborhood that is tucked away from the chaos of Main Street Manayunk, but a short walk away. When it comes to the layout of his properties, Lafferty “tends to focus on maximizing space in bedrooms and include an area for laundry convenient to them.”
Looking forward, Lafferty notes that the market is quickly returning to what it was in 2005-06 before the 2008 crash – and as it continues to grow, so does his list of projects.
