Learn More About Olde Kensington & View Real Estate Listings for Sale
Olde Kensington is located directly North of Northern Liberties & West of Fishtown. This neighborhood is poised for a major comeback & there are a lot of exciting new developments. It has an artistic fringe vibe & we are predicting big things over here! 3rd Ward is planning on setting up shop just past Girard Avenue & we are hoping that really helps to ground the neighborhood. They are planning on an adaptive reuse of an existing building & we love when developers reuse existing buildings as opposed to knocking them down & building new construction. This neighborhood is ripe for adaptive reuse applications as it was a manufacturing hub & there are beautiful old factory buildings just waiting for redevelopment. This neighborhood is serviced by the Olde Kensington Neighborhood Association.
What Are the Boundaries?
Girard to the South, Cecil B. Moore to the North, Front to the East & 6th to the West.
Restaurants, Bars & Nightlife
Right in Olde Kensington you have Modo Mio (technically right on the border), Taco Riendo (which we hear is amazing), El Greco Pizza, Las Cazuelas & Cafe Coloa. You are also just blocks away from Northern Liberties & Fishtown who are home to a number of places to eat, drink & play.
The Super Fresh at 2nd & Girard has got you covered. They have a parking garage & a great state store on the ground floor. At 2nd & Girard you will find Quince Fine Foods should you want something a little more gourmet.
Check out Greensgrow Farms in Kensington during the growing season for some fresh grown produce. Go to the Fair Food Farmstand year round in the Reading Terminal Market. Hopefully as this neighborhood grows & thrives they will add a weekly market of their own!
Again, a lot of the green space nearby is located in Fishtown or Norther Liberties. Head to Fishtown & check out Penn Treaty Park or Northern Liberties for the Liberty Lands & Orianna Hill Dog Park.
Parking & Public Transportation
Street parking is relatively easy over here. It is also in close proximity to the El which can get you to Center City, North Philadelphia, West Philadelphia or to the Broad Street line & Regional Rail services. There are a number or buses as well. Check out Septa.org for more information!
